Scientist F : 13 posts, Pay Band : PB-4 Rs. 67000-79000/- & Grade Pay Rs.8900, Age : 54 years
Scientist E : 18 posts, Pay Scale : PB-4 Rs. 37400-67000/- & Grade Pay 8700/-, Age : 45 year
Scientist D : 18 posts, Pay Scale : PB-3 Rs. 15600-39100/- & Grade Pay 7600/-, Age : 45 years
Scientist C : 32 posts, Pay Scale : PB-3 Rs. 15600-39100/- & Grade Pay 6600/-, Age : 35 years
Scientist B : 24 posts, Pay Scale : PB-3 Rs. 15600-39100/- & Grade Pay 5400/-, Age : 35 years
At least first class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or first class Master’s Degree in Science in the relevant subject from a recognized university or equivalent with Experience / specialization as mentioned against each item.
At least 15 years of relevant experience for Scientist ‘H’ , 10 years experience for Scientist ‘E’, 7 years for Scientist ‘D’ and 3 years for Scientist ‘C’.
Desirable : M.Tech/ Ph.D. in the relevant subject/specialization. (b) Knowledge of Chinese, French, Russian, German or Japanese foreign language. (c) Candidate having Master of Tech / Doctorate degrees in relevant areas of specialization will be preferred.

General Instructions:
1. (a) For DRDS Cadre (i) Scientist ‘B’:Not exceeding 28 years,(ii)Scientist ‘C’:Not exceeding 35 years,(iii) Scientist ‘D’ and Scientist ‘E’:Not exceeding 45 years,(iv) Scientist ‘F’:Not exceeding 50 years.The upper age limit as on Closing Date (inclusive).The upper age limit as on closing date is relaxable upto 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for Other Backward Classes (OBC) for the posts reserved for them as per orders of Central Govt. issued from time to time. The upper age limit as on closing date is relaxable for physically handicapped persons as per Govt. rules. Age for all items is also relaxable upto 5 years for Civilian Central Govt employees as per rules. Age is relaxable for Ex-Servicemen including Ex SSC officers as per rules in vogue.
2. The applicants should ensure that they satisfy the eligibility criteria upto closing date of advertisement. Candidates should be in possession of First class degree certificate awarded by the university at the time of submitting the application. Candidates should possess the prescribed experience in the relevant fields as mentioned under the column “Experience / Specialization”. The experience possessed before acquiring the essential qualifications will not be counted. In such cases, the required experience will be counted only from the date the essential qualifications are acquired. The prescribed Essential Qualifications/experience are bare minimum and mere possession of same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. It may not be possible for RAC to interview all the candidates. RAC may restrict the number of candidates for interview to a reasonable limit. The suitability of the applicants will be assessed on the basis of educational qualifications possessed, experience at suitable level, professional achievements, aptitude for research etc. The candidates should, therefore, mention all qualifications /experience /achievements/ specialization in relevant fields including those over and above the minimum qualifications. After the interview, in accordance with the merit, the offer of appointment to the selected candidates will be restricted to the number of vacancies and minimum qualifying criteria. The appointment, however, will be subject to completion of formalities like medical examination prescribed for Group ‘A’ technical posts of Government of India with field service liability and character verification besides verification of SC/ST/OBC/PH certificate if applicable.
3. Candidates are required to submit their applications online along with legible and lighter file containing scanned copies of certificates for essential and higher Educational Qualification, Experience claimed in the column pertaining to Employment History of online application, Document/certificate in support of last pay drawn, recent colored passport size photograph and the required fee through RAC website http://rac.gov.in . The maximum file size of each attachment should not exceed 2 MB. The applications in respect of candidates who do not upload the required documents will be summarily rejected. After submission of the online application, candidates working in Central / State Government/Public Sector Undertaking, Autonomous Organisations/Armed Forces (including Departmental candidates) must forward their applications accompanied with NOC issued by the Cadre Controlling Authority who is competent to relieve the applicant in case of selection in DRDO to Director, Recruitment & Assessment Centre (RAC), Lucknow Road, Timarpur, Delhi-110054, so as to be received at RAC within 45 days of the closing date failing which their candidature shall not be considered. In case of Army/Navy/Air Force personnel, ‘NOC’ must be issued from MS Branch (Army HQ)/ Dte of Personnel (Naval HQ)/ DPO(Air HQ). The NOC, in respect of Departmental candidates in respect of whom the Cadre Controlling Authority is HQ DRDO, should be submitted through DOP, HQ DRDO. A copy of the online application should be attached along with NOC failing which it has to be ensured that the Registration Number allotted to the candidates at the time of online submission of applications is invariably mentioned at the time of submission of NOC. In the absence of same, application may be rejected. Candidates are advised to retain one copy of application with acknowledgement slip.
4. Application Fee ` 50/- (fifty) to be paid online. No fee is applicable for SC/ST/PH/Woman candidates.
5. Only Indian nationals need to apply.
6. Fare concession is given by railways to unemployed youth in second class when travelling to attend interviews for jobs in Central Govt. Depts. To avail free railway tickets, the candidate is required to submit an attested copy of (i) call/interview letter (ii) a copy of application form to railway authorities. The candidates who are unemployed are advised to utilize this facility given by the railways, as no rail fare will be paid by this office, if the place is connected by rail, to such candidates.
7. Candidates will have to produce all original certificates for verification at the time of interview.
8. Application without scanned copies of certificates for essential and higher Educational Qualification, experience claimed and Document/certificate in support of last pay drawn and incomplete applications will be summarily rejected. No correspondence would be entertained in this regard.
9. Candidates desirous of applying for more than one post must apply separately for each post indicating Item No. of the advertisement accompanied by separate requisite fee.
10. Selected candidates have the liability to serve anywhere in India.
11. Number of vacancies are tentative and may vary.

RAC, the Recruitment and Assessment Centre of DRDO was set up on 23 July 1985 after getting exemption from the purview of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). It is situated at Lucknow Road, Timarpur, Delhi. RAC has undertaken various recruitment programmes to induct scientists each year in variety of scientific and engineering disciplines relevant to DRDO Laboratories and assessed the suitability of DRDO scientists for promotion to next higher grade through duly constituted Assessment Boards/ Peer Committee.The primary responsibilities of RAC Recruitment of Scientists (Group ‘A’ Class I Gazetted Post) in DRDO Assessments of Scientists of DRDO for promotion to the next higher grades Selection of candidates for higher study course (ME/ M.
